Ok, so, I have a question! Here's my issue: I feel like my hair is growing so ridiculously fast! The bodies of my dreads are coming together in an awesome way , but I feel like I can't keep up with my roots. Maybe this is normal (?), but clockwise rubbing only gets my roots nice for a couple of days, almost a week if I'm lucky. I know that it's kind of been frowned upon on this site, but I've been considering knitting my roots with the latch hook tool. I'm wondering if this will keep my roots tighter, longer. I'm also concerned about how the size of my dreads would be affected. I'm pretty happy with the general thickness that they seem to be settling into, so I don't want my dreads to get way smaller. Any thoughts on this method? Maybe some suggestions on how to keep my roots on lock? Any help is greatly appreciated, I need all the help I can get! =^_^=

Jonny Clean Begin by clockwise rubbing to create knots in the new growth. If you find that you loose many of the new knots use the Lock Sculpta to tighten the newly knotted areas just a bit, right after you finish clockwise-rubbing and palmrolling the new knots. This will keep it together and won't effect the overall size of the mature dread. =)

22 months old. Lots of length has broken off due to chemical damage..but I am happy with the result because they have become much more naturally forming. More bumps and knotting for realz for realz. Almost no maintenance this past 8 or 9 months. Washing 1-2x/week. Alternating between a couple of shampoos. Dreadheadhq when i need a real deep clean. Dr. Bronners or Aveeno Natural more regularly because I find that I get dry scalp easily even with watered down Dreadhead liquid soap. Loving the progression.

Jonny Clean Cool, they look great! I'd love to hear for feedback on the DHHQ organic shampoo.if you get a chance to try it... It works great if your scalp tends to get dry.

okay, so i have been at this for about a month now and i noticed that i have a few dreads with straight hair in the center. so, it is locking at the top and at the base, but there is about an inch in the middle that is not with the program. Advice?

Pat i actually ended up back combing the center area and re-waxing it. it did the trick.

Hello new friend. Your dreads look great. An you share with me a little bit of your journey. Suggestions. What to expect.

Pat Yea. Sounds like a journey. Yes mine are a month old. I have a lot less hair. I have found using exelerator spray after a shower does wonders. I am shocked at how fast mine are locking up.
