Preparing your hair for dreadlocks

prepare your hair for dreadlocks

Great! Your mind and body are ready for dreadlocks. Now it's time for the most important part.....Your hair!

There are a couple of things you need to get . The most important is a residue free soap or shampoo. Check out the residue free page to learn more about why residues are supa bad news for dreadlocks. The next thing you will need is a metal comb. Make sure you have a metal comb, because a plastic just won't cut it, or dread it actually!

Plastic combs usually break after making 2-3 dreads. So invest in a nice metal comb. It will make backcombing a lot easier and you may need it for your dreadlocks maintenance. You will also need rubberbands and Dread Wax. And if you want to speed up the backcombing and locking process you will need Locking Accelerator or Lock Peppa.
